EASE GUIDES / GETTING CONNECTED
How to install
an eSIM on Android
Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel: find the right settings, add your eSIM and choose it for mobile data on your trip.
Installing a profile may start your plan's validity. Check in Ease whether the clock starts at installation or at the first network connection in a covered country. This determines whether you should install it before travelling.
What to prepare
- A compatible, carrier-unlocked phone. eSIM support depends on the exact model and regional variant. Start with our compatibility checks.
- A stable Wi-Fi connection. You need internet access to download the profile. Install it on the phone you will use on your trip.
- Your issued eSIM details. In My eSIMs in Ease, open the relevant card and find QR installation or Manual installation. These are available while the profile can still be installed.
- The Install before date. This is the installation deadline. Plan duration is a separate condition: learn about eSIM validity.
It is easiest to display the QR code on another device you own. Without a second screen, use manual entry. Keep the QR and activation code private: they can be used to install your profile.
Samsung Galaxy: add with a QR code
Choose the QR scanner, scan the code from Ease and confirm the profile download. Wait for the new eSIM to appear in your SIM list.
Labels vary with One UI: older versions may refer to adding a mobile plan instead. See Samsung's setup guide and its earlier menu variant.
Google Pixel: add an eSIM
Follow the setup wizard. When it shows the scanner, scan your Ease QR and confirm installation. Labels and intermediate steps can vary with your Android version; Google's Pixel guide describes the current settings path.
Find the new profile in your SIM list. If your phone lets you rename it, choose a clear label such as “Ease · travel”. This makes it easier to distinguish from your home SIM when selecting mobile data.
If the QR is on the same phone
In Ease, tap Save installation details. The text file contains an LPA string and separate profile parameters. Avoid relying on a tiny screenshot if the camera cannot recognise its QR.
Samsung offers activation-code entry on the scanning screen. On Pixel, look for manual entry or help on the scanner screen, if your version offers it. If neither is available, display the QR on a second screen or ask support for help.
- A single code field
-
For full eSIM-code entry, use the complete LPA value starting with
LPA:1$. Omit the file's “LPA: ” label and any extra spaces. - Separate fields
- If the wizard asks for an SM-DP+ address and an activation code separately, copy each from its matching field in Ease. Do not paste the entire LPA string into the address field.
- ICCID or APN
- Neither is an installation code. ICCID identifies the profile; APN is used for data settings. Do not substitute them for the activation code.
Confirm and wait for the download to finish. If a code is rejected or reported as used, do not delete an installed profile or try activating it on another device.
Choose your eSIM for mobile data
When you are in a covered country and ready to use the plan, enable your Ease profile and mobile data. Then check these three settings.
-
The mobile data line
On Samsung, look for the data-line choice in the SIM manager. On Pixel, choose your data SIM within Network & internet → SIMs. Select your travel eSIM.
Some Galaxy variants use a Primary SIM setting that can change calls, texts and data together. Check before confirming: a data-only travel plan does not add regular calls. See Samsung's SIM settings.
-
Roaming on your travel eSIM
Enable data roaming for your Ease profile as instructed for the package. On Pixel, the switch is in the selected SIM's settings; Galaxy menus vary by software version. Confirm which line the setting applies to. Google's roaming guidance.
-
Avoid unintended home-SIM data
Turn off data roaming for your home SIM and automatic data switching, where available. On Pixel, also check data-during-calls options, which vary by model. Disabling these may interrupt data while you call on another line. More about dual SIM on Pixel.
Turning off data roaming does not remove your home operator's charges for calls and texts. If you do not need that SIM during your trip, you can temporarily disable it without deleting the profile.
Check your connection after arrival
- You are in a covered country. An installed eSIM may not connect to a network before your trip.
- The package is available. Check its status, remaining data and validity in My eSIMs. Refresh data syncs information; it does not buy extra data.
- The correct line provides internet. Briefly turn off Wi-Fi and open a small web page. This test uses some of your allowance.
- Use the supplied APN. If your eSIM details specify an APN, use that value. Do not guess it from unrelated instructions.
Common questions
What about Xiaomi, Honor or another Android phone?
Check the exact model and regional variant on the manufacturer's website. eSIM support and settings can differ even between similar devices. Look for SIM or mobile network settings; the Samsung or Pixel paths may not apply. For iPhone, use our separate guide.
Why is there no Add eSIM option?
Your variant may not support eSIM, or software and carrier restrictions may apply. A product family name alone is not enough. Run through the compatibility checks before buying.
Can I delete the eSIM after travelling?
Only delete the profile when you are certain you have finished using it. Do not assume its QR will allow another installation. Deleting a profile does not itself pause a plan that has already started.
Setup did not finish. How do I get help?
Contact Ease support with your phone model, Android version, order number, country and the error message. Do not post your QR or activation code in public chats. Keep the profile on your device while waiting for help.
