GUIDES / BEFORE YOUR TRIP

Does my phone
support eSIM?

A few checks in Settings before choosing a plan. For iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel and other phones.

THE SHORT VERSION

Your exact phone variant needs eSIM support and must allow another carrier’s SIM. A model family name or dual-SIM label alone does not confirm both.

Three checks before buying

  1. Find the exact model

Look for the model name and number in About your device. Check the manufacturer’s specifications for the market your phone was made for.

  2. Find the eSIM option

Look for an option to add an eSIM in SIM settings. You only need to find the option: there is no need to scan a QR code or install a plan for this check.

  3. Check the carrier lock

A phone bought on a carrier contract may only accept that carrier’s SIMs. Confirm that other carriers are allowed before paying for a travel eSIM.

Check an iPhone

SettingsCellular / Mobile DataAdd eSIM

Menu labels can vary by language and iOS version. Apple lists regional exceptions, including models from China mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. Check your specific variant against Apple’s current requirements.

Check Carrier Lock separately

Open Settings → General → About. Look for “No SIM restrictions” next to Carrier Lock. If it says something else, contact the carrier the phone was purchased from: that carrier handles unlocking.

Check a Samsung Galaxy

Some software versions call it “Add mobile plan”. Support depends on the model and market; carrier versions may have different settings. If the option is missing, check the complete model number in Samsung’s documentation, rather than the series name alone.

Check a Google Pixel

Labels depend on the Android version. For older Pixels, check exceptions by country and selling carrier carefully. Google maintains eSIM support details and the Settings menu instructions.

If your phone came from a carrier, also check its SIM lock: eSIM support does not remove that restriction. Google explains unlocked phones here.

Xiaomi, Honor, Motorola and others

Search Settings for “eSIM”. Then check your exact model’s specifications on the manufacturer’s regional website, under SIM, mobile network or connectivity. Android menu labels differ between manufacturers.

If Settings and the specifications disagree, ask the manufacturer or phone seller first. Do not buy a plan just to test compatibility.

EID is a useful clue

An EID is an identifier associated with eSIM. On a Pixel, for example, look under About phone → SIM status. Google’s instructions for finding an EID.

Having one does not establish that a phone is carrier-unlocked or works with every plan. Use all three checks together. You do not need to send us your full EID or IMEI to use this guide.

Phone compatible? Continue with eSIM installation on iPhone: QR codes, manual setup and your data line.

Common questions

Does dual SIM mean eSIM support?

Not necessarily: the phone may have two physical slots. Its specifications need to explicitly list eSIM, taking the regional device variant into account.

Can this website check my phone automatically?

This page does not read your EID, carrier lock or SIM hardware. It helps you check Settings and official specifications; a device name reported by a browser is not a reliable compatibility check.

Can a software update add eSIM support?

An update may change the options on a compatible device, but it cannot add missing hardware. First check your model’s hardware support with its manufacturer.

My phone is compatible. What next?

Browse destinations and check coverage, data allowance and what starts the plan’s validity. Still unsure? Contact Ease support with your model and country of purchase. Do not include QR codes or activation credentials.
